Coffee Table Collection
Reflecting on a place where I live, we all live and call our home, it was my aspiration to create a table that could on a slightest
of scales represent Earth, that home of all of us. When I was a school boy, I would mindlessly stair out of my window and at my desk
for hours imagining places I read about in books, countries and continents I would visit and explore in my future lifetime… Well,
it’s kind of amazing to have the whole world at your fingertips making you gaze and wonder what this world has in store for you,
where you have set your foot and where you wish you will go.
Yew Table
Yew trees have always fascinated me with vibrant colours and the detail of the wood’s grain that has no straight lines
but instead every fibre dances with its own expression forming a spectacular detail rich multidimensional canvas. This
piece was absolutely a gem to source out, tough to tame but most rewarding to admire in its finished glory.
The symbolic quirky design of this table was inspired by timeless philosophical outlook on life and the path
that we pursue individually taking us on a journey of discovery of dead-end ventures as well as passages leading
forward towards the unknown that has more dead ends and very scenic routes. All in all, the lives of all of us
are simply a journey down a maze of LIFE.
This concept was a long-awaited implementation. Daydreaming about the scale of the surrounding world and cosmos that
is the universe, always fascinated and captivated my imagination. Finally, the marriage of woodworking, ink and epoxy
artistry gave opportunity to create a small print of the wonder scape onto a wooden canvas. The abstract realism of
this piece was captured to inspire and enthral the observer.
I salvaged a few large pieces of an Oak tree that we took down in Highgate. The crosscut section was very thick a
nd had lovely detail to it. After much consideration as to what it should become, I thought it would be great to
exploit the thickness of this piece and carved it out to be a world view with a particularly deep ocean bed. The depth
of the ocean is very dimensional and looks like the mysterious blue, as mysterious as in real life.
The table rests on elephants complementing ancient mythology.
The final result is a very beautiful table top with rich, vibrant colours of both the wood of Eucalyptus tree and
epoxy resin. Eucalyptus is the only wood that I am aware of to crack inside of sapwood without breaking the edge
unlike all other wood species that crack from inside all the way out. This amazing feature compelled me to make
something out of a number of crosscut 2 stem sections that I found at a tree surgery processing center. It was
incredibly laborious and scrupulous working on this as the wood is on the soft side and is incredibly thirsty. I
do believe we managed to give it justice and hope you can appreciate it for the amazing visual spectacle that it is.
This piece really is a stunner with some of the most captivating and dramatic detail.
This piece was yet again found at a tree surgery waste processing facility where it would likely be mulched for compost
as it was simply rotten hollow. Finding it was like discovering a true gem in a garbage bin. Under all the rotten layers
I could see glorious shapes and textures. It took forever to remove putrefaction and work to finish to give the piece its
current look. I believe cutting a glass top to the shape of the Cherry piece complemented and completed the piece. LED
lighting installed at the base of the piece adds ambiens to the installation and makes it even more of a spectacle.
Indeed one of our proudest pieces. We put effort into designing a whole world view table top that would bear the
continents and will not only be realistic in the shapes of land masses and oceans’ depth but has clouds hovering
over the worldscape adding another dimension and realism. The result really is a stunner that can have the observer
drawn and hypnotised. This table rests on elephants complimenting ancient mythology, however, there are two other
variants where this table can be ordered resting on 3 pillars of Big Ben or a custom made cradle.
A beautiful crosscut of a large Yew Tree that rests on a hexagonal frame nested with roses really is an eye catcher.
Thick slab has amazing detail and was complemented with vibrant shades of epoxy filled crevices. The base was made in
hexagonal shape to restrain the wild shape of the slab and give it a bit more stable geometric reference. Roses, crafted
by a young Ukrainian blacksmith, beautifully complement the piece and give it a lovely uplifting feel. This piece of
Yew Tree was found at a tree surgery waste processing center where it would either be split into firewood or would be
crushed and mulched into compost.

Some oak has fantastic character and even dimension. The piece of wood was planked from a dead oak tree that would normally be sliced
into rings before being dumped to the local tree waste processing facility where it would likely be processed for firewood.
Beautiful wood acquired even more flowy character when it was complete with poured in black epoxy creating a river of contrast on
the landscape of fantastic grain detail. Graceful curves and beautiful character capture one’s attention and imagination.
